Teacher Education
From its founding, Brescia has been noted for the quality of its Teacher Education programs. Brescia University School of Education (SOE) candidates are challenged to become professional educators committed to ethics, advocacy, service, and lifelong learning. All School of Education programs are approved by Kentucky’s Education Professional Standards Board.
Bachelors of Science Degree with a Major and Kentucky Teacher Certification in Elementary Education (Certification: Elementary Education, Grades P–5)
This major provides students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed in an elementary classroom (P–5) .
Total Requirements: 128 hours
Bachelors of Science Degree with Major and Kentucky Teacher Certification in Middle School Education (Certification: Middle School, Grades 5–9)
This major requires specialization in two of the following specialty areas: English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. For students earning dual certification with both an Education and a Special Education degree, the latter can count as one specialty area.

Bachelors of Science Degree with Major and Kentucky Teacher Certification in Secondary Education (Certification: Secondary, Grades 8–12)
Students obtaining Teacher Certification in Secondary Education earn a major in Biology, English, Mathematics, or Social Studies alongside their Secondary Education requirements.
Total Requirements: 128 hours
Bachelors of Science Degree Art Education with Kentucky Teacher Certification in Grades P–12
This degree combines most of the requirements for an Art major with relevant education courses needed to be a successful art educator within a P–12 school system.
Total Requirements: 133 hours
Bachelors of Science Degree Spanish Education with Kentucky Teacher Certification in Grades P–12*
This degree combines most of the requirements for a Spanish major with relevant education courses needed to be a successful Spanish educator within a P–12 school system.

Endorsement for Teachers of English as a Second Language P–12 (ESL)
This post-baccalaureate endorsement may be earned in conjunction with a bachelor’s degree in education, and thus – as it’s obtained in conjunction with another certification in education – prepares both pre-service and more experienced teachers to teach in a more global environment that includes English-language learners. This endorsement also expands potential job opportunities.

Bachelors of Science Degree with a Major and with Kentucky Teacher Certification in Special Education
The Special Education Program at Brescia University prepares individuals to work as teachers in a variety of settings with children and young adults who have diverse and exceptional learning needs. Brescia’s special education offerings include courses leading to P–12 certification and grades 8–12 endorsement in Learning and Behavior Disorders; these prepare teachers to work with children with specific learning disabilities, mild mental disabilities, emotional or behavioral disorders, and other disabilities. Certification in Special Education can only be obtained through completion of a major in Elementary, Middle School, or Secondary Education (dual certification).Students seeking secondary certification through a Brescia program or students who have already completed a secondary certification program elsewhere may obtain an endorsement in Learning and Behavior Disorders (grades 8–12).
